Benefits from catalyst evaluation

For Thaioil, the selection of the most suitable hydrotreating catalyst can lead to estimated cost saving of 15 million baht/year/reactor.

Objectives of catalyst evaluation program

To evaluate catalytic performance of hydrotreating catalyst in terms of the Start of Run (SOR) temperature (ºC) and deactivation rate (ºC/month). Essential process parameters can also be determined; for examples, mass balance, hydrocarbon yields, and so forth.

Start of run (SOR) temperature at targeted sulfur

By using the above graph, SOR temperature is considered the temperature at a targeted sulfur is produced.

Catalyst deactivation rate (ºC/month)

Catalyst deactivation is determined as the rate of temperature increment per month (ºC/month) in order to keep the product at targeted sulfur.
